Your WIN House Story

Your story can help someone see that a new beginning is possible.

Sharing your story is completely voluntary. You choose what you're comfortable sharing and whether you'd like to participate in a conversation, written story, photo, video or another opportunity.

Stories Remind Us of the Strength We Share

Maybe there was a moment at WIN House that stayed with you.

A moment when you finally felt safe. Someone who listened. A meal when you needed one. A program that helped you take your next step. A place where your children could simply be children.

Today, sharing what that experience meant to you could help someone else understand they are not alone.

WIN House is inviting former residents to share their stories and explore becoming a WIN House Ambassador. Ambassadors help bring the WIN House mission to life. They may share their experiences through fundraising campaigns, awareness initiatives, events, social media, donor communications, photos, videos, or community conversations. There is no one way to be an ambassador.

You choose what you want to share, how you'd like to participate, and what feels right for you.

Your story may be shared in the future, or it may not. Completing the form simply opens the door to a conversation.

If WIN House was part of your journey, we'd be honoured to listen.

“WIN House was not just a shelter for me. It became my second family. I arrived there at a time when I was completely overwhelmed, with five children, and I had almost nothing: no completed documents, no money, no home, and even my future felt uncertain..."

Your story belongs to you. We are simply here to listen

Every story shines a light on what WIN House does. Providing safety, dignity, and support for individuals rebuilding their lives after gender-based violence.

WIN House is an ongoing project of Edmonton Women's Shelter Ltd. Charitable Registration #107283301RR0001

We acknowledge that WIN House operates on Treaty 6 Territory, in Amiskwacîwâskahikan, a traditional gathering place for many Indigenous Peoples. This land has been home to the Plains Cree, Métis, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, Dene, and Inuit, and remains a place of connection, culture, and community. We honour and respect the histories, languages, ceremonies, and enduring presence of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who continue to care for this land. We recognize that we are all Treaty people, with a shared responsibility to learn from the past, act with awareness in the present, and contribute to a more just and equitable future. As an organization that supports women and families, we hold space for the truths of colonial violence and its ongoing impacts. We honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people, and recognize the strength, leadership, and resilience of Indigenous women in our communities.Guided by these truths, we commit to ongoing learning, reflection, and action in support of reconciliation, and to fostering safety, respect, and dignity for all.
